Dear Friends,
It has been so exciting as we continue to develop and grow in our life and ministries at St. Thomas'. Let me highlight a few important issues:
Children's Ministries: Ann Copp and many people have been working so hard on developing our ministry to children and youth. This is an important area and we need to have a person on our staff to oversee this ministry. I have asked Laura Moore, a member of our vestry, to chair this committee and we hope to have someone ready to take on our children's ministry soon. This is an important, growing area of St. Thomas'.
Sabbatical: Ann Copp has been at St. Thomas' for 10 years now and it is now appropriate for her to take a sabbatical. She will be away in June and July this year. May she take a needed rest and be refreshed to continue in her important ministry at St. Thomas'.
As we move forward, I would like Ann to direct Pastoral Ministry and Adult Education and for these to move to a new level where we can develop strong ministries among our people.
At a recent vestry retreat we spent time reflecting on our vision and direction at St. Thomas'. A major area is oversight of our ministries and all members of our vestry are now connected to a ministry. Three words are used in our vision statement and these will be the base for the life and ministries of St. Thomas': Celebrate, Seek, Proclaim.
My goal is to incorporate all of our ministries in these three areas and for the vestry to claim leadership and vision for the development of the life and ministry for the people of St. Thomas'. It will take some time, but the process begins.
Your brother in Christ,
Malcolm
