Lay and Worship Ministries
Altar Guild
The mission of the Altar Guild is to enhance the worship experience, to the glory of God. Service on the Altar Guild includes caring for the church’s ornaments, linens, candles, and elements, setting up for all services, and arranging flowers provided as memorials for weekly and special services. Approximately 50 parishioners in teams of four or five participate in this ministry throughout the year. Larger groups of 12 to 20 Altar Guild members gather to prepare the church and grounds for Easter and Christmas. Hundreds of flowers and greens are arranged to reflect the joyous nature of these celebrations.

Lay Pastoral Care
Lay Pastoral Care is focused on ministering to the sick, homebound, and hospitalized and welcoming visitors and newcomers to St. Thomas’. Committee members supplement the work of the clergy, enabling those who are homebound to receive more frequent visits and to have the opportunity to receive Holy Communion. Members of this vibrant committee also visit other churches to experience being a newcomer firsthand and to garner new ideas to enhance the experience for newcomers at St. Thomas’ Church.
