Meet Our Clergy

The Reverend Anjel Scarborough

Interim Rector

I am delighted the Vestry called me to serve as your Interim Rector in this season of transition and discernment at St. Thomas’ Church! Following God’s call into the priesthood after a 20-year career in Information Technology including owning a training and consulting firm in Frederick, MD, I received Master of Divinity from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg (now United Lutheran Seminary) with honors in New Testament scholarship. My ordained vocation has been an adventure working in a variety of ministry contexts from a small Episcopal mission to a very large historic United Methodist congregation to hospice chaplaincy. I have a passion for spreading the Gospel through community engagement, empowering lay ministry, preaching, liturgy and teaching. I have served on the diocesan Commission on Ministry and the Congregational Development team and the Provincial Council of the Society of Catholic Priests in North America. I am also an iconographer and lead retreats in this artistic prayer form.

My husband Stuart is a postulant in the deacon formation program and works as the Facilities Manager at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ellicott City. We have two adult children.
