A Place To Belong

Welcome

All Are Welcome

We welcome your visit to our website and encourage you to explore further virtually or, best of all, to join us in person. St. Thomas’ is a Christian community committed to worshiping God, caring for all people, and careful stewardship of God’s creation. Founded in 1742 to serve the early settlers of Garrison Forest, over the years our congregation has changed and grown alongside Owings Mills and the nearby communities in Baltimore County. Today we celebrate the God-given gift of diversity as together we explore faith, love, and commitment.

Our worship, rooted in the Anglican tradition, may be somewhat formal, but our parishioners are warm and welcoming. We are always happy to help a newcomer navigate our service. Our hope is that the warmth of our welcome, the sanctity of our historic church, and the beauty of our words and music, will be channels of grace, allowing all of us to feel God’s presence and love.

What to Expect

Accessibility: St. Thomas' Church is wheelchair accessible and there are several parking lots. Bathrooms are located in the basement of the church or in the parish hall, which is wheelchair accessible.

Our Services: Services last for approximately an hour.  A program is distributed by the ushers as one enters the church. We have box pews and seating is open.

Communion: The Holy Eucharist is offered at all of our services with the exception of Thursday Morning Prayer. All are welcome to receive Communion. It is not necessary to be an Episcopalian or a member of our church.

Attire: We have no dress code. People's dress ranges from somewhat formal to rather casual. Our Sunday 5 p.m. “Last Chance” Mass service is a “come as you are” service.

Outreach: There are multiple ways you can get involved and share your talents. Visit the ministries page for an extensive list and contact person.

Music: On Sunday, at the 10 a.m. service (during most of the year) we have a full choir,  accompanied by our Aeolian-Skinner organ and a Hyatt-Davis piano. We have additional instrumentation at holidays and special occasions. Hymnals are in every pew so that the congregation can join in singing the hymns. The choir invites you to join them either from your pew or in the choir loft.

Sunday School: Sunday school students can be dropped off before the 10:00 service, at the Old School Building. They will be walked over to the church to join you after the sermon.  There is also a family break room below the sanctuary.

Further Questions: If you have additional questions, please contact the office at 410-363-1044 during the week or ask one of our Ushers on Sundays.

Please introduce yourself to the Ministers or Ushers; we’d love to get to know you.

We'd Love To Hear From You

Please let us know if you have any questions or if you would like more information about our community or our programs.
